Emel Özveren, MD

Emel Özveren, MD is an anesthesiology physician at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul, where she works within the Anesthesiology & Reanimation unit. Clinical focus

Dr. Özveren’s practice centers on anesthesia care for patients undergoing surgical and other procedures. This work involves assessing the patient before the procedure, planning the anesthetic approach in coordination with the surgical team, monitoring the patient during the procedure and supporting recovery afterward. The choice of anesthetic technique depends on the type of procedure, the patient’s medical history and any coexisting conditions, and is discussed with the patient beforehand.

Her work also includes reanimation and intensive care, which involve the support and monitoring of patients whose vital functions require close attention, including in the period following surgery or during acute illness. Her membership in the Turkish Intensive Care Association reflects this area of her practice. As with all anesthesia and intensive care, the specific plan for each patient is determined individually after clinical evaluation.

How Dr. Özveren works with international patients

Dr. Özveren speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Because anesthesia care is planned together with the treating surgeon, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options, including questions about previous anesthetics, current medications and known allergies. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling, although a final anesthetic assessment takes place in person before any procedure.
