Ezgi Baykal, MD

Ezgi Baykal, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Radiology unit with a subspecialty in Interventional Radiology. From 2011 to 2018 she was a radiology specialist at Private Lifemed Medical Center, and from 2018 she held the same role at Private Sonomed Imaging Center. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2026.

Breast imaging typically draws on mammography, ultrasound and, where appropriate, MRI, and the findings are interpreted in the context of the patient’s symptoms and prior imaging. Within interventional radiology, Dr. Baykal performs image-guided procedures, in which ultrasound or other imaging is used to guide a needle or instrument to a defined target. Whether an interventional procedure is suitable is assessed on an individual basis after the available imaging has been reviewed, and the possible benefits and limitations are discussed with the patient beforehand.

How Dr. Baykal works with international patients

Dr. Baykal consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination where relevant, and a discussion of the imaging or interventional options that may be appropriate. Video consultations are available for international patients, which can be useful for an initial review of existing imaging and reports or for follow-up discussions after an examination or procedure.
