Ezgi Topyıldız, MD

Ezgi Topyıldız, MD is a Pediatric Allergy specialist at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where she works within the Pediatrics unit. With more than 15 years in medicine, she cares for children with asthma, food allergies, urticaria (hives), atopic dermatitis and other allergic conditions, as well as pediatric immune system disorders.

Dr. Topyıldız graduated from İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2011 and completed her Pediatrics training at İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2016. In 2022, she completed her training in Pediatric Immunology and Allergy Diseases at Ege University Faculty of Medicine. Her professional experience includes positions at İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine (2012–2016), Ministry of Health University Zeynep Kamil Training and Research Hospital (2016–2019), Ege University Faculty of Medicine Hospital (2019–2023) and Hatay Training and Research Hospital (2023–2024), before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2024. She is a member of the European Society Immunodeficiencies (ESID), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the Turkish National Allergy and Clinical Immunology Association and the Clinical Immunology Association. She has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on topics including genetic defects in common variable immunodeficiency, facilitated subcutaneous immunoglobulin treatment in children with primary immunodeficiencies, MHC class II deficiency, autoimmune cytopenias in inborn errors of immunity, the natural course of egg allergy, cow's milk oral immunotherapy and subcutaneous immunotherapy in children with allergic rhinitis and asthma.

Clinical focus

Dr. Topyıldız evaluates and manages a range of allergic conditions in children. Her areas of expertise include childhood asthma, food allergies in children, urticaria (hives) in children and atopic dermatitis. Because allergic symptoms in children can overlap and change over time, her assessment takes into account the child's history, previous test results and the course of symptoms before treatment options are discussed with the family.

Alongside pediatric allergies, Dr. Topyıldız has a particular focus on pediatric immune system disorders. Her training in Pediatric Immunology and Allergy Diseases and her published work on primary immunodeficiencies reflect this dual interest, which is relevant for children who present with recurrent infections, unusual infection patterns or immune-related findings in addition to, or instead of, typical allergic symptoms.

How Dr. Topyıldız works with international patients

Dr. Topyıldız consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory and pathology results, allergy test reports, discharge summaries and any relevant imaging reports, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child's history and symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their child's case before deciding whether to travel.
