Prof. Fatih Aydoğan, MD

Prof. Fatih Aydoğan, MD is a General Surgery specialist with more than 27 years in medicine. His practice centers on breast diseases and oncological surgery. He sees patients in the General Surgery units of Acibadem Altunizade Hospital and Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul. He graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1999 and completed his General Surgery training at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 2005. In 2012 he obtained the Medical Specialization Board qualification in Surgical Oncology and the European Breast Surgery Certification Certificate in Valencia, Spain.

From 2005 to 2017, Dr. Aydoğan worked as a specialist and faculty member in the Breast Diseases Service of Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine. Between 2018 and 2025 he was Founding Director of the Breast Health Center at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital, and in 2025 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. His training abroad includes a Research Fellowship on Breast Surgery at Brigham and Women?s Hospital (2014) and a Research Fellowship on Breast Cancer at Harvard/Dana Farber Cancer Center (2015), observer roles at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Visiting International Scholar positions at Yale School of Medicine Department of Surgery and ASAN Medical Breast Center in South Korea in 2025. From 2019 to 2025 he served as a committee member of the Question of the Week Program of the American Society of Breast Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the Senology (Breast Science) Association, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the İstanbul Medical Chamber and the Oncoplastic Breast Consortium. His co-authored publications address male breast cancer, breast cancer staging and prognostic factors, localization of non-palpable breast lesions, sentinel lymph node biopsy, granulomatous mastitis and implant-based breast reconstruction.

Clinical focus

Dr. Aydoğan’s areas of expertise are oncological surgery and breast surgery. He evaluates and treats patients with breast cancer, including hereditary breast cancers, breast cancer during pregnancy and male breast cancer. His work also covers benign and inflammatory breast conditions such as mastitis, breast cysts and breast pain, as well as breast diseases more broadly.

In line with his published work, his surgical interests include techniques for locating non-palpable breast lesions before surgery and sentinel lymph node assessment in breast cancer. The suitability of any surgical approach depends on the individual diagnosis and is determined after clinical assessment and review of imaging and pathology.

How Dr. Aydoğan works with international patients

Dr. Aydoğan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital stay. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options.
