Fikret Mert Acar, MD

Fikret Mert Acar, MD is a cardiologist in the Cardiology Department at Acibadem Bodrum Outpatient Clinic in Muğla. Clinical focus

Dr. Acar evaluates and treats a broad range of heart conditions. His areas of expertise include arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation, in which the heart beats irregularly or too fast, as well as coronary artery disease, in which narrowing of the vessels supplying the heart may cause chest discomfort or reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. He also sees patients with heart failure, a condition in which the heart does not pump as effectively as it should, and with myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart muscle.

Structural and blood pressure concerns form another part of his practice. Dr. Acar assesses heart valve diseases and cardiac murmurs, which are sounds detected during examination that may point to a valve or flow abnormality and often require further evaluation. He manages hypertension and low blood pressure, and he also addresses obesity as a factor that can affect cardiovascular health. The specific approach for each patient depends on the findings of the examination and any supporting tests.

How Dr. Acar works with international patients

Dr. Acar consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
