Clinical focus

Dr. Karaça’s clinical interests cover the main modalities of diagnostic radiology. In ultrasonography, he performs and interprets ultrasound examinations, which use sound waves rather than ionizing radiation and are often among the first imaging studies requested when a clinical question arises; this includes renal ultrasonography, the ultrasound assessment of the kidneys. In computed tomography, he evaluates cross-sectional CT images that can help characterize findings in the chest, abdomen, and other regions when a referring physician requests further detail. In magnetic resonance imaging, he reviews MRI studies, which provide detailed soft-tissue contrast and are frequently used to clarify findings from other examinations.

Dr. Karaça also works in mammography, the X-ray imaging of the breast used in the evaluation of breast tissue. Across all of these modalities, his role is to help the referring team select an appropriate examination, to ensure the study is performed in a way that answers the clinical question, and to provide a written report describing the findings. Imaging findings are interpreted in the context of the patient’s history and symptoms, and the results are shared with the treating physicians, who use them alongside other clinical information to guide further assessment or treatment decisions. Where a study is inconclusive, additional or alternative imaging may be discussed with the referring team.

How Dr. Karaça works with international patients

Dr. Karaça consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination where relevant, and a discussion of the options, including which imaging examinations may be appropriate and how to prepare for them. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their imaging or clinical questions before traveling. International patients can expect clear guidance throughout the imaging process, including appropriate preparation and coordination of radiology examinations, and reports are provided so that the results can be shared with the patient’s treating physicians.
