Haldun Şentürk, MD

Haldun Şentürk, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla. He graduated from Ondokuzmayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and has more than 33 years in medicine. Throughout his career he has worked in emergency departments, and for a number of years he also held hospital leadership positions alongside his clinical duties.

Dr. Şentürk began his emergency work as an Emergency Service Physician at Ünye Devlet Hospital between 1994 and 1995, followed by a period at Samsun Private Health Polyclinic from 1996 to 1999. He then spent more than a decade at Samsun Gynecology and Children’s Diseases Hospital, serving as Deputy Chief Physician from 1999 to 2012 and as an Emergency Service Physician from 2012 to 2013. In 2014 he joined Samsun Özel Liman Hospital as an Emergency Service Physician and served as its Chief Physician from 2014 to 2017. Between 2017 and 2018 he worked as an Emergency Service Physician at Liv Hospital Samsun, returning to Samsun Özel Liman Hospital in the same role in 2018. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022.

Clinical focus

Dr. Şentürk’s clinical interests center on the acute conditions seen in an emergency department. His areas of expertise include trauma and environmental emergencies, a group of conditions that arise from exposure to the outdoor or marine environment. Within this group he manages bee stings, tick bites, and drowning emergencies, which may require rapid assessment and stabilization.

He also focuses on acute hypoxia and airway obstruction, situations in which oxygen supply to the body is compromised and timely intervention is needed. In each case, the initial approach in the emergency setting involves assessing the patient’s condition, securing vital functions, and determining whether further diagnostic evaluation or referral to another specialty is appropriate. The course of care depends on the individual patient’s presentation and findings.

How Dr. Şentürk works with international patients

Dr. Şentürk consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling or as part of follow-up.
