Prof. Dr. İlker Yağcı

Prof. Dr. İlker Yağcı is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation unit. His practice covers spine health, movement disorder treatment, and pain treatment and rehabilitation, and he has more than 34 years in medicine.

Dr. Yağcı completed high school at Özel Ankara Yükseliş High School in 1992 and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1999. He trained as a resident physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Ankara Numune Training and Research Hospital from 2000 to 2003, completing his specialty training there in 2003, and then continued at the same hospital as a specialist physician until 2004. In 2004 he worked as a specialist physician at Adıyaman State Hospital before joining Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where he served as a specialist physician (2004–2011), associate professor (2011–2016) and professor (2016–2025). In 2008 he earned a Master’s Degree (MSc) in Electrodiagnostic Neurology from Marmara University. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025. He is a member of ISPRM (International Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Association), the Mediterranean Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Forum (MFPRM), the European Forum for Rehabilitation Research (EFRR), the Turkish Rheumatology Association and the Turkish Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Yağcı’s clinical work centers on musculoskeletal and neuromuscular conditions managed through physical medicine and rehabilitation. He evaluates and treats low back, neck and back pain and other aspects of spine health, as well as chronic muscle pain and fibromyalgia. His areas of expertise also include piriformis syndrome, muscle and nerve disorders and myopathies, supported by his background in electrodiagnostic neurology.

In the field of sports medicine and traumatology, he sees patients with knee injuries and joint injuries, and he provides movement disorder treatment together with pain treatment and rehabilitation. Treatment planning is based on an individual assessment of each patient; the approach chosen depends on the findings of the clinical examination and the review of existing imaging and previous treatments. Rehabilitation programs may address pain, mobility and daily function, and are discussed with the patient before they begin.

How Dr. Yağcı works with international patients

Dr. Yağcı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging — for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries — and arranges appointments and the hospital visit.
