Işık Teksen, MD

Işık Teksen, MD is a cosmetic dermatology physician who sees patients at Acibadem Bağdat Outpatient Clinic in İstanbul. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2010. Her clinical work is centered on cosmetic dermatology, medical aesthetic applications and laser dermatology services, and she consults in Turkish and English.

Dr. Teksen attended Saınt Benoıt from 1970 to 1978 and then studied medicine at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, graduating in 1984. From 1984 to 2004 she worked at Kadiköy Health Education Center, and between 1998 and 2000 she also served as a workplace physician for Eti Bank General Directorate and MET Companies Group. In 2004 she obtained a Medical Aesthetic Practice Certificate from the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Health Directorate General of Primary Health Care Services. Her subsequent positions were at Derma Care Beauty Center (2004–2006), Fizikom (Physical Therapy and Laser Center) (2006–2008) and the Medical Directorship of Daphne Laser Center (2008–2009). She is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Medical Aesthetic Association and the French Medical Aesthetic Association.

Dr. Teksen’s practice is devoted to cosmetic dermatology. Within this field she carries out medical aesthetic applications and provides laser dermatology services. Her professional path since 2004 has been spent in centers dedicated to medical aesthetics and laser-based skin treatment, including a period as medical director of a laser center, before she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

As with any aesthetic or laser procedure, whether a particular application is appropriate depends on the individual patient. Dr. Teksen assesses the skin, the patient’s history and any previous treatments before discussing which options, if any, may be considered. How Dr. Teksen works with international patients

Dr. Teksen consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and relevant documents, such as records of previous dermatological or aesthetic treatments, laboratory or pathology results and any earlier consultation notes, and arranges the appointment and the clinic visit. A first consultation with Dr. Teksen typically covers the patient’s history and concerns, a review of previous treatments and existing records, a clinical examination of the skin and a discussion of the possible options and their limitations. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation with Dr. Teksen before deciding whether to travel; a video call can be used to review history and records, although a final assessment for aesthetic or laser applications generally requires an in-person examination.
