Kamil Kayayurt, MD

Kamil Kayayurt, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. He has more than 22 years in medicine, and his clinical work centers on the assessment and management of trauma-related emergencies. He graduated from Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and completed his specialty training in Emergency Medicine at Izmir Atatürk Training and Research Hospital in 2011.

Dr. Kayayurt began his career at the Central Health Center, Suşehri, where he worked from 2004 to 2005. After completing his residency, he practiced at Rize State Hospital from 2011 to 2012 and then joined Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University Faculty of Medicine, where he worked from 2012 to 2015 and served as Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine from 2013 to 2015. He joined Acibadem Health Group in 2015. He is a member of the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association, the Society of Radiology in Emergency Medicine and the Emergency Medicine Specialists Association. His published work includes a study comparing existing syncope rules with a newly proposed Anatolian Syncope Rule for predicting short-term serious outcomes after syncope, research on ultrasonographic methods as a marker of blood loss, a study on monitoring treatment response in acute heart failure using the ultrasonographic inferior vena cava collapsibility index, and a number of emergency medicine case reports covering topics such as Ramsay Hunt Syndrome with atypical presentation, pneumomediastinum with pneumopericardium and epidural pneumatosis, mad honey poisoning presenting as a transient ischemic attack, and extraocular muscle paralysis due to snake bite.

Clinical focus

Dr. Kayayurt’s primary area of expertise is trauma care. In the Emergency Service, this involves the timely evaluation of patients who present after injury, including a structured clinical assessment, review of any available imaging and laboratory findings, and decisions about the appropriate next steps in management. Emergency care of this kind is time-sensitive, and the exact course of assessment and treatment depends on the individual patient’s condition and the findings at presentation.

Beyond trauma, his professional background and publications reflect experience with a range of acute presentations seen in emergency medicine, including syncope, acute heart failure and unusual neurological or toxicological cases. Any treatment plan is determined after clinical examination and is tailored to the individual patient.

How Dr. Kayayurt works with international patients

Dr. Kayayurt speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
