Assoc. Prof. Lütfiye Uygur, MD

Assoc. Prof. Lütfiye Uygur, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics whose work centers on maternal-fetal medicine and perinatology. She graduated from Selcuk University Meram Faculty of Medicine in 2006 and completed her residency in Gynecology and Obstetrics at Zeynep Kamil Women’s and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital in 2014. Her professional experience began as a General Practitioner at Göynük State Hospital in Bolu, Turkey, followed by a position in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kartal Kızılay Hospital, Istanbul. She completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency at Istanbul Zeynep Kamil Women and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital and later worked in its Clinic of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Perinatology. Her Maternal Fetal Medicine Residency Training took place in the Department of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Perinatology, Istanbul University Istanbul Faculty of Medicine (Çapa Faculty of Medicine). In the UK, she was an Observer Obstetrics and Gynecology Assistant at the Northern Gynaecological Oncology Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, and an Observer Maternal Medicine Specialist at the Harris Birthright Centre King’s College Hospital, Fetal Medicine Research Institute, London. She is a member of the Turkish Maternal Fetal Medicine and Perinatology Association, the International Society for Prenatal Diagnosis, and the International Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology Ultrasonography.

Dr. Uygur’s clinical work is concentrated on high-risk pregnancy. Her listed areas of expertise include hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and preeclampsia risk assessment, placental abruption with disseminated intravascular coagulation, short cervix, immune thrombocytopenia in pregnancy, and the large-for-gestational-age fetus. Each of these conditions calls for close monitoring during pregnancy and careful decisions about the timing and mode of birth.

A second area of her practice is prenatal diagnosis, including targeted fetal ultrasound and fetal echocardiography.
