Asst. Prof. Mehmet Erdem Yıldız, MD

Asst. Prof. Mehmet Erdem Yıldız, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Radiology unit. He has more than 29 years in medicine. Dr. Yıldız graduated from Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 1997 and completed his radiology training at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine in 2002. He worked at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine from 1997 to 2001 and at Maltepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Radiology from 2002 to 2003 before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2003. He is a member of the Turkish Radiology Association (TRD), the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Association (TGRD) and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE). He has co-authored publications on topics such as the gradient echo sequence in MRI for the diagnosis of venous sinus thrombosis, a combined approach of superselective embolization and gamma knife radiosurgery in dural arteriovenous fistula, the comparison of low-dose and conventional-dose high-resolution computed tomography in lung parenchymal diseases, and mastoid pneumatization in professional divers.

Clinical focus

Dr. Yıldız’s areas of expertise are computed tomography, virtual angiography, multidetector CT colonography, virtual colonoscopy and magnetic resonance imaging. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are cross-sectional imaging methods used to evaluate a wide range of conditions, and the choice between them depends on the clinical question, the region of the body being examined and the individual patient. Virtual angiography refers to non-invasive imaging of blood vessels based on cross-sectional data. Multidetector CT colonography and virtual colonoscopy are CT-based approaches to imaging the colon that are reviewed and reported by the radiologist.

In practice, this work involves selecting an appropriate imaging protocol, reviewing the acquired images and preparing a report that supports the referring physician’s decision-making. How Dr. Yıldız works with international patients

Dr. Yıldız speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged when needed.
