Emergency care coordination is the third area: Dr. Özkan liaises with other departments when a patient needs specialist review, imaging, admission or follow-up, so that information gathered during the emergency assessment is passed on and the patient understands who will be involved in their ongoing care. He works within the limits of what can be determined at a first contact and communicates clearly when a definitive diagnosis depends on additional evaluation.

How Dr. Özkan works with international patients

Dr. Özkan consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who prefer another language. Before a planned visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient's history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options and any further assessment that may be needed. Video consultation is available for international patients, which can be helpful for an initial discussion or for reviewing existing results; the scope of what can be assessed remotely is limited, and an in-person examination may still be required depending on the presenting problem. Throughout, the emphasis is on timely evaluation, clear communication about immediate care needs and coordination with the appropriate medical teams when further treatment is indicated.
