Mehmet Yörübulut, MD

Mehmet Yörübulut, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Ankara Hospital in Ankara, where he works in the Radiology unit. He has co-authored a number of peer-reviewed publications, including work on magnetic resonance findings of osteitis pubis, the use of functional magnetic resonance imaging to quantify the effects of transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation, an anatomical study of the axis for odontoid screw placement, and an analysis of BAFF and TRAIL expression levels in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Clinical focus

The core of Dr. Yörübulut’s practice is the performance and interpretation of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). Both are cross-sectional imaging methods used to examine different regions of the body, and his published work reflects experience with MRI of the musculoskeletal system as well as functional MRI. In radiology, the findings of these examinations are documented in a written report that is shared with the referring physician, who uses it together with the clinical picture to guide further decisions.

A further area of expertise is multidetector CT colonography, also referred to as virtual colonoscopy, a CT-based examination of the colon. Dr. Yörübulut also has an interest in virtual angiography, in which images of blood vessels are reconstructed from CT or MRI data. Whether one of these examinations is appropriate for a given patient depends on the clinical question, prior findings and the assessment of the treating physicians; imaging is one part of a broader diagnostic process rather than a stand-alone answer.
