Prof. Dr. Melih Bozkurt

Prof. Dr. Melih Bozkurt is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Neurosurgery unit with a subspecialty focus on pediatric neurosurgery. He has more than 25 years in medicine and provides neurosurgical evaluation for adult and pediatric patients with brain, spinal cord, and neurovascular conditions.

Dr. Bozkurt graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2001 and completed his residency at the Ankara University Faculty of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery in 2006. He then worked as a specialist at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, completed his compulsory service at Doğubayazıt State Hospital from 2007 to 2008, and served as a medical lieutenant at Konya Military Hospital from 2008 to 2009. Between 2009 and 2014 he was a specialist at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine, and from 2011 to 2012 he was a clinical observer at the University of Wisconsin, Department of Neurological Surgery. He became Associate Professor at Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2014, joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2019, and worked as Associate Professor at Memorial Bahçelievler Hospital in 2021. In 2022 he received the title of Professor at İstanbul AREL University.

Clinical focus

The core of Dr. Bozkurt’s practice is the surgical management of brain tumors and spinal cord tumors. His clinical interests include meningiomas, gliomas, and deep-seated brain tumors, as well as brain metastasis surgery for patients whose cancer has spread to the brain. Each case is assessed on the basis of the tumor’s location, its relationship to surrounding structures, and the patient’s overall condition, and surgical options are discussed together with the other treatments that may be relevant.

In pediatric neurosurgery, Dr. Bozkurt evaluates and treats children with brain tumors and other neurosurgical conditions, working with the pediatric teams involved in the child’s care. His neurovascular work covers brain hemorrhage and brain aneurysms, where the timing and choice of treatment depend on the individual findings.

How Dr. Bozkurt works with international patients

Dr. Bozkurt consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
