Müjgan Orman, MD

Müjgan Orman, MD is a radiology specialist at Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Radiology unit. Dr. Orman graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2003. Between 2005 and 2007 she worked as an assistant doctor in cardiovascular surgery at Siyami Ersek Hospital, followed by a period as an assistant doctor in family medicine at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital from 2007 to 2008. From 2008 to 2015 she was a research assistant in the Department of Radiology at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine, where she completed her radiology training in 2015. In the same year she worked at Acıbadem Healthcare Services and then joined Kağıthane State Hospital as a specialist doctor, a position she held until 2017. From 2017 to 2022 she was an assistant professor at Medicana Beylikdüzü İnternational Hospital, and in 2022 she worked as a specialist doctor in radiology at İstanbul Aydın University Medicalpark Hospital. Her co-authored publications include work on bladder cancer in an inguinal vesical hernia, on tocilizumab treatment and intensive care unit admission rates in COVID-19 patients, on fracture healing in intra-articular fractures and on autograft techniques in solitary finger enchondromas.

Clinical focus

Dr. Orman’s work centers on diagnostic imaging. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) uses magnetic fields and radio waves to produce detailed images of soft tissues and organs without ionizing radiation. Computed tomography (CT) combines X-ray images taken from different angles to create cross-sectional views of the body. Ultrasonographic imaging uses sound waves to visualize organs and soft tissues in real time and does not involve radiation. Each method has its own strengths and limitations, and the appropriate examination depends on the clinical question being asked.

As a radiologist, Dr. Orman performs and interprets these examinations and prepares reports that support the referring physician’s diagnosis and treatment planning. The choice of imaging method takes into account the patient’s history, symptoms and any previous examinations, and is decided together with the treating team. Imaging findings are considered alongside the clinical picture rather than in isolation.

How Dr. Orman works with international patients

Dr. Orman speaks Turkish and English. For patients coming from abroad, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, and interpreters can be arranged when needed.
