Murat Çağlar, MD

Murat Çağlar, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, where he works in the Pediatrics unit. With more than 20 years in medicine, he sees newborns, infants and older children for acute illnesses as well as for routine preventive care, including newborn assessment and healthy child follow-up.

Dr. Çağlar graduated from Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 2006. From 2006 to 2009 he completed compulsory service at İstanbul Gaziosmanpaşa Mevlana Health Center. He then trained in pediatrics at Pamukkale University Faculty of Medicine Department of Child Health and Diseases, completing his specialization in 2013, and went on to a second period of compulsory service at Hitit University Training and Research Hospital between 2013 and 2015. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2015. He is a member of the Çorum Medical Chamber and has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on pediatric topics, including infectious mononucleosis, benign leukopenia in children referred to a pediatric hematology outpatient clinic, and Henoch-Schönlein purpura in children.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Çağlar’s work concerns the first months of life. He evaluates newborns with jaundice, carries out and interprets newborn screening tests, and advises families on infant colic and infant lactose intolerance. Healthy child follow-up is a further focus: he monitors growth, feeding and development at regular visits and assesses children in whom a developmental disorder is suspected, arranging further evaluation where this is indicated.

In older infants and children, Dr. Çağlar manages upper respiratory tract illnesses, which are among the most frequent reasons for a pediatric visit, and investigates childhood anemia, including iron deficiency, with appropriate laboratory testing and dietary or medical treatment. He also assesses children with urinary incontinence, reviewing the history, examining the child and considering underlying causes before discussing a management plan with the family. Treatment decisions are made individually, taking the child’s age, symptoms and overall health into account.

How Dr. Çağlar works with international patients

Dr. Çağlar consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of the child’s prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results, newborn screening results and discharge summaries, and arranges the appointment and hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, growth and development, a review of previous test results and treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the possible options with the parents. Video consultations are available for international families who wish to discuss their child’s situation or existing reports before deciding whether to travel.
