Mustafa Candan, MD

Mustafa Candan, MD is a Pediatric Surgery specialist at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Pediatric Surgery unit. He then served as a Pediatric Surgery Specialist at GATA Haydarpaşa Military Hospital (1989–1990) and Bursa State Hospital (1991), followed by nine years as Chief Assistant at the Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital Pediatric Surgery Clinic (1991–2000). From 2000 to 2004 he worked at Kartal Dr. LütfüKırdar Training and Research Hospital, including as a Pediatric Surgery Specialist, and in 2004 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services. He also completed the Bahçeşehir University Health Management Certificate Program (Basic and Advanced Level) in 2004–2005. His publications include articles and case reports in journals such as the Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and the Turkish Journal of Urology, on topics including acute scrotum in children, femoral hernias in children, teratomas in childhood and common surgical diseases in children.

Clinical focus

Dr. Candan’s areas of expertise center on pediatric surgery, with a particular focus on pediatric digestive system surgery. He evaluates and treats infantile pyloric stenosis and pediatric appendicitis, as well as umbilical hernia in children and other forms of pediatric hernia.

He also performs newborn and childhood circumcision and manages a range of conditions of the genital and inguinal region, including undescended testicles, hydrocele, spermatic cord cysts and labial adhesions. His practice further includes the assessment and treatment of torticollis in children. Treatment recommendations depend on the child’s age, the findings of the clinical examination and the results of any imaging or tests that have already been carried out.
