Mustafa Emi, MD

Mustafa Emi, MD is a radiologist in the Radiology unit at Acibadem Kayseri Hospital in Kayseri, Turkey. He completed his specialty training in Radiology at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 2009 and then worked in the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Faculty of Medicine Department of Radiology from 2009 to 2010. Between 2010 and 2014 he was a Radiology Specialist Physician at Diyarbakır Military Hospital. He subsequently worked at Yentürk Medical Medical Imaging from 2014 to 2015 and as a Radiology Specialist Physician at Magnet Hospital from 2015 to 2016, before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2016.

Clinical focus

One of Dr. Emi’s main areas of interest is the imaging of breast diseases. In this field, imaging is used to help evaluate breast findings and symptoms and to support the diagnostic process. The choice of imaging method, and whether further examinations are appropriate, depends on the individual patient and is decided in the course of clinical assessment.

His second area of interest is multidetector CT colonography, commonly referred to as virtual colonoscopy. This is a CT-based examination of the large bowel. Whether CT colonography is suitable for a particular patient is determined after reviewing the clinical situation and any previous examinations. How Dr. Emi works with international patients

Dr. Emi speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the hospital’s international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit itself. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination where appropriate, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used for an initial review of existing reports and imaging or to discuss findings and possible next steps; whether an in-person visit and further imaging are needed is decided on a case-by-case basis.
