Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Süveran’s practice is endoscopy, including colonoscopy and gastroscopy, which are used both to investigate symptoms of the digestive tract and, where appropriate, to carry out treatment during the same procedure. His endoscopic work also includes ERCP, a procedure that combines endoscopy and imaging to examine the bile ducts and pancreatic duct, and balloon dilation, which may be considered for narrowed segments of the digestive tract. He additionally performs the gastric balloon procedure, an endoscopic approach that is evaluated on an individual basis after clinical assessment.

Dr. Süveran sees patients with inflammatory bowel disease, including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, conditions that typically require long-term follow-up and periodic reassessment. He also manages celiac disease and Barrett’s esophagus, a change in the lining of the esophagus that is usually monitored with endoscopy. A further area of his practice is liver diseases, where evaluation generally combines laboratory results, imaging and the patient’s history to establish a diagnosis and plan management.

How Dr. Süveran works with international patients

Dr. Süveran consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as endoscopy and pathology reports, laboratory results, MRI, CT or ultrasound reports, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation with Dr. Süveran typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options that may be suitable.
