Prof. Muzaffer Çetingüç, MD

Prof. Muzaffer Çetingüç, MD is a psychiatrist at Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir, where he works in the Psychiatry & Psychology unit. He graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1973 and obtained a Master’s Degree in Aviation Medicine (Flight Medicine) at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Military Faculty of Medicine in 1975. In 1980 he completed his doctorate at the same faculty and his training at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Department of Mental Health and Diseases. He became an Associate Professor at Gülhane Military Medical Academy Military Faculty of Medicine in 1992 and was appointed Professor at İstanbul Üsküdar University Faculty of Medicine in 2014. He has been in medicine for more than 53 years.

His career combines clinical psychiatry with aviation medicine. From 1974 to 1977 he was Chief of Health at the İzmir Air Force Command 2nd Main Jet Base and Flight School. Between 1980 and 1992 he served as Chief of Clinic at the Eskişehir 600-Bed Air Hospital Psychiatry Clinic, followed by five years as Head of Courses Section at the Gülhane Military Medical Academy Aerospace Medicine, Physiological Training Center. In 1997–1998 he was Center Director of the Eskişehir Air Force Command Physiological Training Center and Examination Center Directorate. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2010, and in the same period acted as Coordinator of the Civil Aviation Academy (2010–2012) and as Deputy Director of the Anadolu University Aviation and Space Medicine Practice and Research Center (2011–2014). From 2000 to 2016 he was President of the Aviation Medical Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Çetingüç assesses and treats adults with a range of mood, anxiety, trauma-related and personality-related conditions. His areas of expertise include post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders. He also works with patients who have personality disorders, including borderline personality disorder and dependent personality disorder.

Care in these conditions typically begins with a detailed psychiatric assessment of the patient’s symptoms, history and previous treatments, after which the options are discussed with the patient. The course of care is decided individually, based on the clinical picture and the patient’s circumstances.

Dr. Çetingüç consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
