Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Özbay’s practice involves infectious diseases in children. This includes the assessment and treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, which are among the most frequent reasons families seek pediatric care, as well as rubella and other childhood infections. His approach is based on the child’s history, a clinical examination, and, where indicated, laboratory testing, with treatment decisions guided by the findings in each individual case.

Dr. Özbay also follows newborns and infants in the first months of life. Newborn follow-up includes monitoring growth, feeding, and early development, and answering parents’ questions about common concerns such as infant colic. He additionally evaluates children with suspected developmental disorders, reviewing developmental milestones and coordinating further assessment when needed. The aim of these visits is to identify concerns early and to plan appropriate follow-up together with the family.

How Dr. Özbay works with international patients

Dr. Özbay speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who prefer another language. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory results, growth and vaccination records, ultrasound or X-ray reports, and discharge summaries, and arranges the appointment and hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s medical history and current symptoms, a review of existing test results and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options and the suggested follow-up. For families abroad, video consultation is available so that an initial discussion or a review of existing findings can take place before travel, or so that follow-up questions can be addressed afterward, with the understanding that some assessments require an in-person examination.
