Nigar Ahmadova, MD

Nigar Ahmadova, MD is a neurologist working in the Neurology unit of Acibadem Health Group, which she joined in 2021. She has more than 12 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Ahmadova graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, Azerbaijan Medical University in 2009. Between 2009 and 2010 she completed Radiology Assistant Training at the Azerbaijan Ministry of Internal Affairs Hospital. From 2014 to 2018 she was a Neurology Assistant at Izmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital, and in 2018 she completed her neurology education at Health Sciences University Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital.

After completing her specialty training, Dr. Ahmadova worked as a Neurology Specialist at Private Egeumut Hospital in Manisa from 2018 to 2020. From 2020 to 2021 she was a Neurology Specialist at Private Karatas Hospital in Izmir, and in 2021 she also held a Neurology Specialist position at Private Kent Hospital. In the same year she joined Acibadem Health Group, where she continues her clinical work in neurology.

Dr. Ahmadova’s clinical work is in the field of neurology, the medical specialty concerned with the nervous system. Her four years as a Neurology Assistant at Izmir Bozyaka Training and Research Hospital, followed by several years in Neurology Specialist positions at hospitals in Manisa and Izmir, form the basis of her current practice. Her earlier Radiology Assistant Training at the Azerbaijan Ministry of Internal Affairs Hospital adds a background in imaging to her neurological training.

In her consultations, Dr. Ahmadova takes a careful, step-by-step approach: she listens to the patient’s account of their symptoms, reviews the medical records and imaging that are already available, carries out a clinical neurological examination and then discusses which further investigations or treatment options may be appropriate. Where a question falls outside her field, or where the input of another specialty is needed, she works together with colleagues in other departments so that the patient’s care can be planned as a whole.

How Dr. Ahmadova works with international patients

Dr. Ahmadova speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters for other languages can be arranged when needed. Before a patient travels, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges the appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options that may be considered. Video consultation is available for international patients, which allows those living abroad to speak with Dr. Ahmadova and to have their existing documents reviewed before deciding whether to travel for an in-person appointment.
