Prof. Ömer Öge, MD

Prof. Ömer Öge, MD is a urologist at Acibadem Kent Hospital (Izmir) in İzmir, where he works in the Urology unit with a subspecialty in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Prostate Diseases. His clinical work covers adult and pediatric urology, including hematuria, kidney stones, prostate disease and urologic oncology involving the prostate, bladder, kidneys and testicles. He has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2023.

Dr. Öge attended Bornova Anadolu High School (English) from 1979 to 1986 and graduated from Ege University Faculty of Medicine in 1993. He completed his urology training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, where he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Urology from 1993 to 1998. He then joined Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine Department of Urology as an assistant professor (1998–2004) and later as an associate professor (2004–2005). From 2002 to 2003 he was a research fellow in the Department of Urology, Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, in Massachusetts, USA. In 2000 he completed his military service at Ağrı Military Hospital. Between 2005 and 2020 he practiced at Kent Hospital as an associate professor, and from 2020 to 2023 he held the title of professor at Kent University and Kent Hospital. He is a member of the European Academy of Pediatric Urology (EAPU), the European Society of Pediatric Urology (ESPU), the European Association of Urology (EAU), the European Board of Urology (EBU), the Turkish Urology Association, the Ege Urology Association, the Pediatric Urology Association and the Ankara Ürologlar Association.

Clinical focus

A central part of Dr. Öge’s practice is the diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases, from benign prostate conditions to prostate cancer. Within urologic oncology, he also evaluates and treats patients with bladder cancer, kidney cancer and testicular cancer. Treatment decisions in these conditions depend on the stage and characteristics of the tumor, the patient’s general health and previous treatments, and are discussed individually after review of imaging and pathology.

His work further includes the assessment of hematuria (blood in the urine), which can have a range of causes and usually requires structured investigation, and the management of kidney stones. Building on his fellowship experience in pediatric urology and his membership in pediatric urology societies, he also sees children with urological conditions.

How Dr. Öge works with international patients

Dr. Öge consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. Video consultations are available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before traveling.
