Assoc. Prof. Onur Tunalı, MD

Assoc. Prof. Onur Tunalı, MD is a specialist in Orthopedic Surgery & Traumatology who sees patients at Acibadem Maslak Hospital and the Acibadem Zekeriyaköy Outpatient Clinic, both in İstanbul, within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. Clinical focus

His second area of focus is joint replacement of the lower limb. He performs hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery, most commonly for patients whose osteoarthritis has not responded to other measures. He also manages orthopedic trauma, meniscus tears, knee injuries and other joint injuries, including those seen in sports medicine and sports traumatology. Whether a given patient is a candidate for surgery, and which procedure is appropriate, is decided only after a full clinical assessment of the individual case.

How Dr. Tunalı works with international patients

Dr. Tunalı consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination of the affected joint and a discussion of the available options.
