Prof. Dr. Pelin Doğan

Prof. Dr. Pelin Doğan is a pediatrician whose professional focus is neonatology. She practices in the Pediatrics unit at Acibadem Atasehir Hospital in İstanbul, where her work centers on newborn health and the care of infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. She has more than 24 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022.

Dr. Doğan graduated from Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine in 2002 and completed her training in Pediatrics at Haydarpaşa Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2009. She then trained in Neonatology at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine, completing this in 2015. From 2016 to 2017 she served as Administrative Supervisor of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital during her compulsory service. In 2020 she became Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, at Health Sciences University Bursa Yüksek İhtisas Training and Research Hospital, where she worked as a Lecturer and as Division of Neonatology Education Coordinator from 2020 to 2022. She is a member of the İstanbul Medical Chamber and the Türk Neonatoloji Association. Her published research concerns preterm infants and includes studies on laboratory markers of late-onset sepsis, red cell distribution width as a predictor of bronchopulmonary dysplasia, vitamin D levels in relation to respiratory distress syndrome and late-onset sepsis, outcomes of inhaled nitric oxide in preterm and term infants, and the evaluation of infants with seizures during the neonatal period.

Clinical focus

Dr. Doğan’s clinical work covers general pediatrics and neonatology. In neonatology she is involved in the assessment and care of newborns, including infants who need neonatal intensive care. This may include preterm infants and newborns with conditions that require close monitoring and support in the first days and weeks of life. Her research background in the early recognition of late-onset sepsis and in respiratory conditions of preterm infants relates directly to this area of practice.

Within pediatrics, she sees children for a range of newborn health concerns. Each infant is evaluated individually, and the appropriate approach depends on the child’s clinical condition, gestational age at birth and any previous findings. Care in the neonatal setting is typically delivered together with the wider pediatric and nursing team.

How Dr. Doğan works with international patients

Dr. Doğan speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who need them.
