Prof. Dr. Recep Kurnaz

Prof. Dr. Recep Kurnaz is an orthopedic surgery and traumatology specialist at Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir, where he works within the Orthopedics & Joint Center. His clinical practice covers foot and ankle surgery, hip and knee replacement surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, and orthopedic trauma care. He has more than 20 years of experience in medicine.

Dr. Kurnaz graduated from Ondokuzmayıs University Faculty of Medicine in 2006 and completed his specialty training in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. He has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2015. He is a member of the Turkish Orthopedics and Trauma Association, the Turkish Sports Injuries Arthroscopy and Knee Surgery, the Turkish Orthopedics and Trauma Education Council, the Turkish Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Association, and the Eskişehir Medical Chamber. His published work includes studies on arthroscopic repair of subscapularis tears, single- and double-row repair techniques for rotator cuff tears, meniscal repair techniques, topical tranexamic acid for bleeding control after total knee arthroplasty, a minimally invasive approach to lateral malleolar fractures, and biomarkers as predictors of mortality in elderly patients with hip fractures.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Kurnaz’s work concerns the hip and knee. He performs hip replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery for patients whose joint symptoms have not responded adequately to other measures. Whether a joint replacement is appropriate, and which approach is suitable, depends on the individual patient’s findings, imaging, and general health, and is decided after a clinical assessment.

He also treats conditions of the upper limb, including shoulder surgery and elbow surgery, with a research background in arthroscopic repair of shoulder tendon tears. His practice further includes foot and ankle surgery and orthopedic trauma care, such as the management of fractures. In each case, the goal is to identify the source of pain or loss of function and to discuss conservative and surgical options openly, including their potential benefits and limitations.

How Dr. Kurnaz works with international patients

Dr. Kurnaz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
