Recep Özgür, MD

Recep Özgür, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Bodrum Hospital in Muğla, where he works in the Radiology unit with a subspecialty focus on interventional radiology. Dr. Özgür graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 he worked at Silivri Ceza İnfaz Kurumu Devlet Hospital, and from 2014 to 2019 he trained as a resident physician in the Radiology Department of Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Medicine, completing his radiology specialization in 2019. He then served as a radiology specialist physician at Devrek State Hospital from 2019 to 2021 before joining Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2021, where he continues to practise. Alongside his specialist training, he completed the Basic Interventional Radiology Course in 2018, the Advanced Nonvascular Interventional Radiology Course and the Patient/Clinical Management in Interventional Radiology Course in 2023, and the Advanced Interventional Radiology Course in 2024.

Clinical focus

Dr. Özgür’s clinical work centers on diagnostic imaging and interventional radiology. This includes image-guided procedures and nonvascular interventional radiology, as well as the clinical management of patients undergoing interventional radiology treatment, from evaluation before a procedure through follow-up afterwards. Interventional radiology uses imaging guidance to perform targeted procedures; the suitability of any such procedure depends on the individual patient’s diagnosis, imaging findings and overall condition, and is decided after clinical assessment. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed research. His publications include Primary Patency Rates of Endovascular Interventions in Hemodialysis Patients with Central Venous Stenosis and Occlusions (Acta Angiologica, 2021) and Parotid gland tumors: comparison of conventional and diffusion-weighted MRI findings with histopathological results (Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, 2021).

How Dr. Özgür works with international patients

Dr. Özgür consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultations for international patients are available, which may allow an initial review of a case and existing imaging before any decision about travel is made.
