Rıdvan Mete Demir, MD

Rıdvan Mete Demir, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Kozyatagi Hospital in İstanbul. Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Demir’s practice concerns trauma and emergency interventions. Emergency interventions in this setting are the initial measures taken to address acute, potentially serious conditions before a patient is transferred to further care or discharged. The priorities are systematic assessment, early recognition of deterioration, and clear communication with the patient and, where appropriate, with the other specialties involved.

Dr. Demir also has a particular interest in environmental emergencies. These include drowning, acute hypoxia, and airway obstruction, situations in which the supply of oxygen to the body is compromised and the time to assessment can be decisive. He additionally sees patients with bee stings, which range from local reactions to more serious systemic responses that need urgent evaluation. In each of these presentations, the emergency assessment aims to determine the severity of the situation, to monitor the patient closely, and to decide on the appropriate level of care.

How Dr. Demir works with international patients

Dr. Demir consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, arranges appointments, and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be useful for an initial review of records or for follow-up questions, although emergency conditions themselves require in-person evaluation. International patients can expect a focused emergency assessment and timely attention to urgent health concerns during their visit.
