Rüçhan Mutlu, MD

Rüçhan Mutlu, MD is an Emergency Service physician who practices at Acibadem Bahçeşehir Outpatient Clinic and Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. He returned to Private Avcılar Vatan Hospital as an Emergency Medicine Physician from 2004 to 2008 and held the same role at Private Merter Vatan Hospital from 2008 to 2009. Between 2009 and 2010 he worked at the Maternal and Child Health and Family Planning (AÇSAP) Center in Çatalca, followed by a position as Family Physician at Çakmaklı Family Health Center from 2010 to 2012. In 2013 he worked at Beylikdüzü Medical Center, and in 2014 he joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

Clinical focus

Dr. Mutlu’s clinical work addresses conditions that require prompt evaluation in an emergency setting. A central area of his practice is trauma, covering the initial assessment and management of acute injuries. He also sees patients with insect bites and stings, including bee stings and tick bites, where early recognition of local and systemic reactions guides the next steps in care.

A further part of his practice involves environmental emergencies, including drowning, and breathing-related emergencies such as acute hypoxia and airway obstruction. In these situations the emergency assessment focuses on the patient’s history, the circumstances of the event, a clinical examination and stabilization of breathing and circulation, followed by a discussion of what further evaluation or treatment may be appropriate. The specific approach depends on each patient’s presentation and is decided case by case.

How Dr. Mutlu works with international patients

Dr. Mutlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, for example MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients, which may be used to review a case or to discuss questions before or after a visit. Emergency conditions require in-person assessment, and any recommendation given remotely is preliminary until the patient has been examined.
