Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Keskin, MD

Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Keskin, MD is a urologist who sees patients at Acibadem Zekeriyaköy Outpatient Clinic and Acibadem Maslak Hospital in İstanbul. Dr. Keskin studied at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine from 1992 to 1998 and completed his urology training at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 2004. Between 2006 and 2008 he worked as a urology specialist at Höpitaux Universitaires Henri Mondor. In 2009 he joined Acıbadem University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Surgical Medical Sciences, Urology, as an assistant associate professor, and in 2013 he took on the role of internship coordinator in the same department. In 2010 he completed a clinical observation at the Endourology and Robotic Surgery Clinic of Beth Israel Medical Center and an internship at the Robotic Urology Clinic of The Hospital at Westlake Medical Center. From 2015 to 2017 he returned to Höpitaux Universitaires Henri Mondor as a researcher in urological oncology under the European Urology Scholarship Programme. He is a member of the Minimally Invasive Urology Association, the Türk Ürononkoloji Association, the Endourological Society and the Urological Surgery Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Keskin’s clinical work covers prostate diseases, urinary incontinence and bladder health, as well as urological oncology. He applies minimally invasive urology, endourology and robotic urology where these approaches are considered appropriate for the individual patient. The choice of any diagnostic or treatment pathway depends on the findings of the clinical assessment and is discussed with the patient.

His published research reflects these interests. He has co-authored studies on robot-assisted partial nephrectomy, a prospective comparison of robot-assisted and open simple prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia, robot-assisted radical nephroureterectomy, robot-assisted bladder diverticulectomy, lymphocele formation after robot-assisted extended pelvic lymph node dissection, DNA base excision repair in non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer, and the presentation and prognosis of acute urinary retention in women.

How Dr. Keskin works with international patients

Dr. Keskin consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation before travelling or to follow up after a visit.
