Selda Atar Akal, MD

Selda Atar Akal, MD is a specialist in Gynecology & Obstetrics with more than 33 years in medicine. She graduated from Trakya University Faculty of Medicine in 1993 and completed her specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Bakırköy Gynecology and Children’s Diseases Training and Research Hospital in 2003, an institution where she worked from 1998 to 2003. During that period she also spent time at the Ankara Gata Gynecological Diseases and Obstetrics Clinic (2002–2003). Her early career included posts in family medicine at Simav Family Medicine in Kütahya (1993–1994) and Çorlu Family Medicine in Tekirdağ (1994–1995), followed by three years in emergency medicine at Çorlu State Hospital in Tekirdağ (1995–1998).

After completing her specialty training, Dr. Akal worked at Malatya Beydağı Devlet Hospital as part of compulsory service (2003–2005) and at Özel Gözde Medical Center in Malatya (2005–2006). She then practiced at Özel Trakya Hospital in Edirne (2006–2008), Özel Ekol Hospital in Edirne (2009–2011), Özel Star Medica Hospital in Tekirdağ (2011–2015) and again at Özel Trakya Hospital in Edirne (2015–2020). In İstanbul she held positions at Koşuyolu Medipol Hospital (2020–2021), Özel Saygı Hospital (2020–2022) and Haliç University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Avcılar Hospital (2022–2024). She joined Acıbadem Health Group in 2024.
