Selin Sirkeci, DDS

Selin Sirkeci, DDS is a dentist with more than 14 years of experience whose clinical work is centered on the dental care of children. She graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2012 and went on to complete her training in Pediatric Dentistry at Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry in 2018.

Since 2018 she has worked within Acıbadem Healthcare Services. She currently sees patients in the Dental & Oral Health unit at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, Türkiye, where her practice covers both preventive care and the treatment of dental problems in children, from early childhood through the years when permanent teeth are coming in.

Clinical focus

Dr. Sirkeci treats tooth-root infection and provides dental trauma treatment for children who have injured their teeth. She performs root canal treatment for both primary teeth and permanent teeth, an area in which the approach differs according to the stage of dental development. Her work also includes dental fillings, tooth extraction and space maintainers, which are used to hold the position of neighboring teeth after a primary tooth has been lost early.

A significant part of her practice is preventive. She carries out fluoride application and places fissure sealants to help protect the chewing surfaces of teeth, and she offers aesthetic pediatric dentistry for children whose teeth need restoration for appearance as well as function. For children who cannot tolerate treatment in the dental chair, or who need extensive work completed at one time, she performs dental treatment under general anesthesia. Whether a particular approach is appropriate depends on the individual child’s age, dental findings and general health, and is decided after clinical examination.

How Dr. Sirkeci works with international patients

Dr. Sirkeci speaks Turkish and English, so families arriving from abroad can communicate with her directly in either language, and interpreters can be arranged where another language is needed. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as dental X-rays, panoramic images, previous treatment records and any relevant laboratory results, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous dental treatment, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options and what each would involve. Video consultation is available for international patients, which allows parents to speak with Dr. Sirkeci about their child’s situation before deciding whether to travel; any treatment plan, however, is confirmed only after an in-person examination.
