Prof. Serkan Şener, MD

In parallel, he held academic positions at Acıbadem University Department of Emergency Medicine as Assistant Associate Professor (2011–2012), Associate Professor (2013–2019) and Professor (2019–2021).

Dr. Şener’s clinical practice covers emergency medicine, emergency assessment and urgent medical care, together with the management of the Emergency Service. In the emergency setting, his role includes the initial evaluation of patients presenting with acute conditions, stabilization and treatment planning, and coordination of subsequent care with other departments where this is needed.

Topics include procedural sedation and analgesia with ketamine and midazolam in adult emergency department patients, the timing of informing emergency department patients about cardiac test results, the impact of associated diseases in geriatric trauma patients, occupational hand injuries, the scapular manipulation technique for reduction of traumatic anterior shoulder dislocations, glass foreign bodies in soft tissue, and non-obstetric problems of pregnancy frequently encountered in the emergency department. He is a member of the Ankara Medical Chamber, the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Emergency Medicine Association (TATD), the Academic Functional Medicine Association, the European Society of Emergency Medicine (EuSEM) and the American College of Emergency Physicians.
