Prof. Soner Solmaz, MD

Prof. Soner Solmaz, MD is a hematology specialist practicing in the Hematology Department of Acibadem Adana Hospital in Adana. With more than 23 years in medicine, his clinical work centers on the diagnosis and management of blood disorders, including acute and chronic leukemias, anemias, bleeding disorders and bone marrow diseases. He is a member of the Experimental Hematology Association, the Turkish Hematology Association and the Hematology Specialization Association.

Dr. Solmaz graduated from Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine in 2003 and completed his training in internal medicine at Adana Numune Training and Research Hospital in 2008. He then completed his hematology training at Başkent University Faculty of Medicine in 2012. His professional experience includes internal medicine roles at Adana Numune Training and Research Hospital Internal Medicine Clinic (2003–2008) and Adana İmamoğiu State Hospital / Internal Medicine Clinic (2008–2009), followed by hematology positions at Başkent University Adana Application and Research Center Hematology Clinic (2009–2012 and 2014–2018), Sivas Numune Hospital Hematology Clinic (2012–2014) and Azerbaijan Baku Private Ege Hospital / Hematology Clinic (2018–2019). He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2019. His published work includes studies on iron treatment, red blood cell alloimmunization in sickle cell disease, complications in patients with hematologic diseases, secondary polycythaemia and imatinib-sensitive and resistant chronic myeloid leukemia cells.

Clinical focus

Dr. Solmaz evaluates and manages a range of malignant and non-malignant hematologic conditions. In the area of leukemia, his focus includes acute lymphoblastic leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and chronic myeloid leukemia. He also sees patients with bone marrow diseases and Castleman disease.

A substantial part of his practice involves anemia in its various forms, including iron deficiency anemia, pernicious anemia and sickle cell anemia. In addition, he manages bleeding and platelet disorders such as immune thrombocytopenia, von Willebrand disease and Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Diagnosis and treatment planning are based on the individual patient’s history, clinical findings and laboratory results, and the suitable approach is discussed with each patient after evaluation.

How Dr. Solmaz works with international patients

Dr. Solmaz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
