Süheyla Tak, MD

Süheyla Tak, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa. She graduated from Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 2008 and has more than 18 years of experience in medicine, much of it in emergency medicine settings. Her clinical interests center on trauma and environmental emergencies, including drowning, acute hypoxia, and airway obstruction.

Her professional experience began in 2009 at Orhaneli 122 ASH, where she worked until 2010. She then held emergency medicine positions at Orhaneli State Hospital and Mudanya State Hospital in 2010, followed by a role in emergency medicine at Doruk Özel Bursa Hospital from 2011. In 2013 she worked in occupational medicine. In 2020 she practiced emergency medicine at Hayat Hospital and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in the same year. She currently practices within the Emergency Service in Bursa.

Clinical focus

Dr. Tak’s areas of focus include trauma-related presentations and emergencies that affect breathing and oxygenation. Trauma care in the emergency setting involves the initial assessment and stabilization of patients with injuries, with attention to the airway, breathing, and circulation, and coordination with other specialties where further treatment is needed. Presentations may range from isolated injuries to more complex trauma, and the initial priorities of assessment remain the same.

Environmental emergencies form a second area of interest. These include drowning and other conditions related to exposure to the surrounding environment. Drowning may lead to acute hypoxia, a reduced supply of oxygen to the body’s tissues, which requires prompt recognition and management. Airway obstruction, whether caused by a foreign body, swelling, or injury, is another time-critical condition that Dr. Tak assesses and manages within the Emergency Service. In each of these situations, the role of the emergency physician is to evaluate the patient rapidly, secure the airway and support oxygenation when needed, and determine whether admission, observation, or further specialist involvement is appropriate. Such emergencies are often time-sensitive, and the sequence of assessment and intervention follows established emergency medicine principles.

How Dr. Tak works with international patients

Dr. Tak speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as CT, MRI, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is also available for international patients, although emergency conditions by their nature usually require in-person assessment.
