Bee stings and tick bites range from local skin reactions to more general reactions, and emergency assessment is directed at judging the severity of the reaction and treating it accordingly.

Airway obstruction and acute hypoxia from other causes also fall within her expertise. Managing the airway is a central skill of emergency medicine, and it involves recognizing when the passage of air is compromised, relieving the obstruction where possible and securing the airway so that oxygen can be delivered.
