Ulaankhuu Batgerel, MD

Ulaankhuu Batgerel, MD is a cardiologist in the Cardiology Department at Acibadem Altunizade Hospital in İstanbul, with a subspecialty in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. She has more than 20 years of experience in medicine. Dr. Batgerel graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2007, having worked at Ankara University Ibni-Sina Hospital in 2006–2007. She completed her cardiology specialty training at Kartal Koşuyolu High Specialization Training and Research Hospital in 2012, working from 2007 to 2012 in the Cardiology Clinic of Ministry of Health Koşuyolu High Specialization Training and Research Hospital. In 2012 she also worked at the Florence Nightingale Hospital Ekokardiyografi Laboratuvarı. Since 2012 she has practiced as a cardiology specialist within Acibadem Health Group. Between 2017 and 2024 she completed a PhD in Immunology at the Aziz Sancar Experimental Medicine Research Institute Immunology Department, İstanbul University Health Sciences Institute. She is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Cardiology Association and the Turkish Immunology Association, and has co-authored peer-reviewed publications on coronary artery disease, cardiac syndrome X, heart failure in nonischemic dilated cardiomyopathy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome.

Clinical focus

Dr. Batgerel evaluates and manages patients with heart failure, coronary artery disease and heart valve disease, including rheumatic heart disease and mitral valve regurgitation. She assesses heart murmurs and disturbances of blood pressure, both hypertension and hypotension, using ambulatory blood pressure monitoring where appropriate, and uses Holter rhythm monitoring to document heart rhythm over an extended period. Obesity is also among her areas of expertise.

As part of her subspecialty in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, Dr. Batgerel can include a structured rehabilitation program in the care of patients with cardiac conditions when this is clinically appropriate. Decisions on monitoring, medical treatment or rehabilitation are made after an individual assessment and depend on the findings for each patient.

How Dr. Batgerel works with international patients

Dr. Batgerel consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages.
