Prof. Dr. Yurtkuran Sadıkoğlu

Prof. Dr. Yurtkuran Sadıkoğlu is a radiology specialist at Acibadem Bursa Hospital in Bursa, where she works in the Radiology unit with a focus on interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology. Her practice combines diagnostic imaging, including magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasonographic imaging, scintigraphy and virtual angiography, with image-guided, minimally invasive procedures. She has more than 42 years of experience in medicine and is a member of the Turkish Radiology Association, the Turkish Interventional Radiology Association and the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe.

Dr. Sadıkoğlu graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1984 and completed her radiology training at Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine in 1989. She worked at the Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine Department of Radiology from 1986 to 2010, where she was appointed assistant professor in 1990, associate professor in 1994 and professor in 1999. Between 2001 and 2007 she also worked at Unimed Radiology Center, and in 2005 she joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services.

Clinical focus

Dr. Sadıkoğlu’s areas of expertise cover both diagnostic and interventional radiology. On the diagnostic side, she works with magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography, ultrasonographic imaging, scintigraphy and virtual angiography, which are used to identify and characterize disease and to help plan treatment. In interventional radiology and interventional neuroradiology, imaging is used to guide minimally invasive procedures through small access points rather than open surgery. Whether a particular imaging study or procedure is appropriate depends on the individual patient’s findings and is decided only after a review of the imaging and clinical history.

Her published work reflects this interventional focus. Topics include the percutaneous treatment of hydatid liver cysts and hydatid cysts in unusual locations, percutaneous drainage of abdominal abscesses and pancreatic pseudocysts, percutaneous treatment of malignant biliary obstruction with metallic stents, balloon dilation of the sphincter of Oddi for stone removal, follow-up of pneumothorax after transthoracic lung biopsies, and the role of fine needle aspiration biopsy in the diagnosis of pancreatic lesions. She has presented at annual meetings of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe and at the European Congress of Radiology.

How Dr. Sadıkoğlu works with international patients

Dr. Sadıkoğlu consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages.
