He also manages insect bites and stings, including bee stings and tick bites, which may require assessment of local reactions, possible allergic responses and, in the case of tick bites, appropriate removal and follow-up advice.

Within his Sports Medicine interest, Dr. Ay focuses on sports traumatology, particularly knee injuries and joint injuries sustained during physical activity. In the emergency setting this typically involves a clinical examination of the affected joint, a review of any available imaging and initial management of acute injuries, followed by guidance on further evaluation or referral where this is indicated. The scope of treatment depends on the individual findings, and not every injury requires the same approach.

How Dr. Ay works with international patients

Dr. Ay consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior medical reports and imaging, arranges appointments and organises the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the available options. For patients abroad, a video consultation can be arranged as a first step to review the situation and decide whether an in-person assessment is appropriate. Recommendations are based on the individual clinical picture, and any proposed plan is explained to the patient before decisions are made.
