Prof. Dr. Zübeyde Gündüz

Prof. Dr. Zübeyde Gündüz is a pediatrician at Acibadem Eskisehir Hospital in Eskişehir, where she works in the Pediatrics unit. Her subspecialty fields are Pediatric Nephrology and Pediatrics, and her areas of expertise cover pediatric nephrology, pediatric rheumatology and general pediatrics. Dr. Gündüz graduated from Anadolu University Faculty of Medicine in 1985. She began her career as a general practitioner, first in the Emergency Outpatient Clinic of Isparta State Hospital (1985–1986) and then at Kayseri Yavuzlar Health Center (1986–1987). In 1987 she joined the Child Health and Diseases Department of Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, where she remained until 2017. During this period she completed her specialization in Child Health and Diseases at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine in 1991, followed by training in Pediatric Nephrology at the same faculty in 2001. In 2011 she obtained the Medical Specialization Board qualification in Pediatric Rheumatology. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2016.

Clinical focus

Dr. Gündüz evaluates and cares for children with kidney-related and rheumatologic health concerns, in addition to providing general pediatric care. Her nephrology practice is reflected in her published work, which addresses topics such as the regulation of blood pressure in children and the mechanisms of hypertension, the antenatal management and long-term follow-up of obstructive hydronephrosis, the use of voiding cystourethrography, urinary oxalate to creatinine ratios in healthy schoolchildren, the classification of IgA nephropathy in children, and complications related to dialysis fluid. She has also contributed to a European Society for Paediatric Nephrology working group survey on the diagnosis and management of renal dysplasia in children.

In pediatric rheumatology, her co-authored research includes a study of circulating endothelial microparticles in children with familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), and she has published on the effects of steroid therapy on carnitine levels. Her general pediatric publications include a case report on transverse myelitis due to measles. Each child is assessed on the basis of his or her individual clinical findings, and the approach to further investigation or treatment is discussed with the family.

How Dr. Gündüz works with international patients

Dr. Gündüz consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages.
