An automated medication management system, Pyxis is designed to increase patient safety and efficiency. It improves nursing and pharmacy staff collaboration. It electronically generates patient medication lists and displays the status of orders. The system includes a fingerprint verification function and features electronic tracking and documentation that protects patient files against unauthorized access.
The traditional medication system, which is inefficient and error-prone, increases both risk and cost. However, many of the medication errors such as incomplete information, allergies, dosages and sound-alike drugs can be prevented through use of electronic medication management systems. It is proven that automating medication use not only helps solve problems of traditional medication, but also improves clinical and operational results.
In 2006, ACIBADEM implemented electronic medication management system for first time.
