Ahmet Çiçek, MD

Ahmet Çiçek, MD is an Emergency Service physician at Acibadem Taksim Hospital in İstanbul. He graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2017 and has worked in medicine for more than nine years, most of that time in hospital emergency departments. His clinical work is concerned with the initial assessment and management of patients presenting with acute conditions, including trauma, environmental emergencies, and problems affecting the airway and oxygenation.

After graduating, Dr. Çiçek worked as an emergency physician at Kağıthane State Hospital from 2017 to 2021. In 2018 he also spent a period in general surgery residency training at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital. Between 2021 and 2022 he undertook cardiology residency training at Trakya University before returning to emergency medicine. He subsequently held emergency physician posts at Gebze Medical Park Hospital (2022–2023), Pendik Yüzyıl Hospital (2023–2024), Lokman Hekim İstanbul University (2023–2024), and Gebze Medar Hospital (2024). In 2024 he also worked as a workplace physician (İşyeri Hekimi) at Çağdaş OSGB. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2025.

Clinical focus

Dr. Çiçek’s areas of expertise lie within emergency medicine. He assesses and manages trauma patients, where the early priorities are identifying injuries, supporting vital functions, and deciding on further investigation or referral. A further area of interest is environmental emergencies, including drowning, acute hypoxia, and airway obstruction. In these situations the immediate concern is securing the airway and restoring adequate oxygenation, followed by monitoring and treatment of any complications that develop.

He also deals with insect bites and stings, including bee stings and tick bites. The clinical picture after a bite or sting varies considerably: some patients need only local care and observation, while others require closer monitoring and treatment because of the way their body reacts or because of the risk of later complications. Emergency assessment aims to distinguish these situations and to plan appropriate follow-up. Because emergency care is by nature time-sensitive, each patient’s needs are determined at presentation on the basis of history, examination, and clinical findings.

How Dr. Çiçek works with international patients

Dr. Çiçek speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. The Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior medical reports and imaging, arranges appointments, and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and current symptoms, a review of any existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination, and a discussion of the available options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their situation or prior findings before or after a visit; it is not a substitute for in-person emergency assessment when urgent symptoms are present.
