Ahmet Körceğez, MD

Ahmet Körceğez, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Pediatrics unit. He is a member of the İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine Pediatrics Association and the İstanbul Medical Chamber. In 2000 he was first author of two congress abstracts on varicella-zoster virus infections and varicella vaccination in children with leukemia, presented at the 28th World Congress of the International Society of Hematology in Toronto, Canada, and at the 5th Annual Meeting of the European Haematology Association in Birmingham, UK.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Körceğez’s work concerns the first months and years of life. He provides newborn follow-up, including newborn screening tests, and treats neonatal jaundice. He also assesses and manages infant colic, and he monitors childhood nutritional disorders, including iron deficiency and anemia in children. Well-child follow-up allows growth, feeding and development to be reviewed at age-appropriate intervals, and developmental disorders in children can be identified and discussed with families as they arise.

Dr. Körceğez also diagnoses and treats pediatric infectious diseases, with particular attention to upper respiratory tract illnesses in children, which are among the most frequent reasons families seek pediatric care. His practice extends across child and adolescent health more broadly, so that older children and teenagers can continue to be followed by the same physician as their needs change.

How Dr. Körceğez works with international patients

Dr. Körceğez sees families in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results, vaccination records and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and symptoms, a review of existing results and any previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options for diagnosis, treatment and follow-up. For families who are not yet in İstanbul, or who wish to discuss findings after returning home, Dr. Körceğez is available for video consultations with international patients.
