Ali Şenol Çelebi, MD

Ali Şenol Çelebi, MD is a radiologist at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital in İstanbul, where he works within the Radiology unit. Dr. Çelebi graduated from İstanbul University Faculty of Medicine in 1984. From 1984 to 1988 he served at Mardin Province Derik District Atlı Village Health Center. He then completed his specialty training in radiology at Şişli Etfal Training and Research Hospital in 1993. He joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2012. He is a member of the European Society of Radiology and the Turkish Radiology Association.

Clinical focus

A significant part of Dr. Çelebi’s work relates to breast imaging. His areas of expertise include breast carcinoma, Mondor disease of the breast and the assessment of axillary lymph node metastases. He has particular experience with B-mode ultrasound and with preoperative axillary lymph node ultrasound, which may be used in the initial staging of breast carcinoma. He co-authored a publication on the role of preoperative B-mode ultrasound in evaluating axillary lymph node metastases, as well as a report on Mondor’s disease of the breast.

Beyond breast imaging, his listed areas of expertise include the radiological evaluation of pediatric acute abdominal pain and vomiting, hysterosalpingography and sacroiliac joint imaging. His published work in these fields includes studies on the radiologic evaluation of children with acute abdominal pain and vomiting, the effects of different contrast agents used in hysterosalpingography on pain formation, and imaging of the sacroiliac joints. In each of these areas, the imaging findings are interpreted in the context of the patient’s clinical presentation and shared with the referring physicians who guide further management.

How Dr. Çelebi works with international patients

Dr. Çelebi speaks Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who wish to discuss their case before deciding whether to travel. Any recommendations following a review of imaging are made cautiously and depend on the individual findings and the input of the treating clinical team.
