Aytan Seydalıyeva, MD

Aytan Seydalıyeva, MD is a specialist in Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology at Acibadem Kartal Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the Infectious Diseases Department. Clinical focus

A substantial part of Dr. Seydalıyeva’s practice concerns infections of the lower respiratory tract. She assesses and manages adults with bronchitis and pneumonia, including patients whose symptoms have not settled with initial treatment or who need further evaluation to establish the likely cause of the infection. Her work in communicable diseases also includes the diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of sexually transmitted infections, among them syphilis.

Dr. Seydalıyeva also cares for patients with viral infections that require longer-term monitoring. She sees patients with hepatitis and HIV/AIDS, providing assessment, follow-up and treatment planning in line with each patient’s clinical picture. She manages shingles (herpes zoster) and advises adults on vaccination. Because infectious disease presentations can overlap with other conditions, she liaises with colleagues from other departments when a patient’s care requires it. Treatment decisions are made after clinical assessment and, where needed, review of laboratory and imaging results, and the approach may differ from one patient to another.

How Dr. Seydalıyeva works with international patients

Dr. Seydalıyeva consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as laboratory and pathology results, chest X-ray or CT reports, discharge summaries and records of previous treatments, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. Where relevant, earlier test results for conditions such as hepatitis or HIV can be gathered so that they are interpreted alongside any new findings. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. For international patients who are not yet in İstanbul, a video consultation can be arranged as a first step, after which any further investigations or in-person visits can be planned according to the findings.
