Barış Peker, MD

Barış Peker, MD is a neurosurgeon at Acibadem International Hospital (İstanbul), where he practices within the Neurosurgery unit. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Türk Nöroşirurji Association, the İstanbul Medical Chamber and the Nervous System Surgery Association.

Clinical focus

Dr. Peker’s cranial practice includes the evaluation and surgical treatment of brain tumors, brain hemorrhage and cerebral vascular occlusion. He treats pituitary disorders and manages hydrocephalus, a condition in which cerebrospinal fluid accumulates within the brain. His areas of expertise also include epilepsy surgery for patients whose seizures are being considered for a surgical approach.

In spinal neurosurgery, Dr. Peker treats cervical and lumbar disc herniation and performs spine surgery. Whether a surgical or a non-surgical approach is appropriate depends on the individual diagnosis, symptoms and imaging findings, and this is assessed on a case-by-case basis.
