Betül Baş, MD

Betül Baş, MD is a pediatrician at Acibadem Taksim Hospital in İstanbul, where she works in the hospital’s Pediatrics unit. She has more than 12 years in medicine, and her clinical work centers on the care of newborns, infants and children, including newborn jaundice, newborn follow-up, well-child monitoring, childhood vaccinations and common childhood illnesses such as upper respiratory tract infections, iron deficiency, anemia and chickenpox.

Dr. Baş graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2014 and completed her specialty training in Pediatrics at İstanbul Bezmialem Vakıf University in 2020. Her professional experience began at Lüleburgaz Community Health Center, where she worked from 2014 to 2015. From 2015 to 2020 she worked in the Bezmialem Vakıf University Faculty of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, and from 2020 to 2021 she served in the Ağrı Patnos State Hospital Department of Pediatrics. She joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2022.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Baş’s practice involves the first weeks and months of life. She follows newborns after birth, evaluates and manages newborn jaundice, and supports families dealing with infant colic. Well-child monitoring is another core area of her work: she follows growth and development over time and carries out childhood vaccinations in line with the schedule appropriate for each child.

Dr. Baş also evaluates and treats common illnesses of childhood. These include upper respiratory tract infections in children, iron deficiency and anemia in children, and chickenpox. Her approach in these conditions is to take a careful history, examine the child, request laboratory tests where they are clinically indicated, and explain the findings and the management options to parents in plain terms so that they can take part in decisions about their child’s care.

How Dr. Baş works with international patients

Dr. Baş consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for families who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound or X-ray reports, laboratory results and discharge summaries, arranges appointments and organizes the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the child’s history and current symptoms, a review of existing test results and any previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultation is available for international patients who would like an initial discussion of their child’s situation or a review of existing reports before deciding whether to travel.
