Bilal Görçin, MD

Bilal Görçin, MD is a nephrologist who works in the Nephrology Department at Acibadem Bakirkoy Hospital and Acibadem International Hospital in İstanbul. His clinical work is centred on kidney diseases, kidney failure and haemodialysis. He has more than 43 years in medicine and joined Acıbadem Healthcare Services in 2024.

Dr. Görçin graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1983. He completed his Internal Medicine training at Karadeniz Teknik University Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and his Nephrology training at İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1998. From 1994 to 2024 he served as Chief Physician of the Turkish Kidney Foundation Ahmet Ermiş Dialysis Center, and from 2001 to 2024 he worked at the Turkish Kidney Foundation Hizmet Hospital. He was a Consultant Physician at Fressenius Dialysis Center between 1999 and 2004, held a consultant physician role with IDM Hemodiyaliz Merkezleri in 2010, and was a Faculty Member at İstanbul Bilgi University from 2009 to 2015. He is a member of the Turkish Nephrology Association, the European Nephrology Association, the American Nephrology Association and the Turkish Organ Transplantation Association, serves on the Board of Trustees of the Turkish Kidney Foundation, and is a Founding Member of the ALS Patients Association. He also holds a Beşiktaş Club Council Membership.

Clinical focus

Dr. Görçin evaluates and manages patients with kidney diseases and kidney failure. His work includes assessing kidney function, reviewing laboratory results and previous treatments, and discussing the options that may be appropriate for an individual patient. Because kidney conditions vary widely in cause and course, each plan is based on the patient’s own findings and medical history.

A significant part of his experience relates to haemodialysis. Over many years in dialysis center leadership and consultant roles, he has been involved in the care of patients who require ongoing dialysis treatment. For patients with kidney failure, he can discuss what haemodialysis involves, how it is monitored over time and how it fits alongside the management of other health conditions.

How Dr. Görçin works with international patients

Dr. Görçin consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as ultrasound, CT or MRI reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options. Video consultations are available for international patients who would like an initial discussion of their case before travelling.
