Bülent Özbilek, MD

Bülent Özbilek, MD is a urologist at Acibadem Dr. Sinasi Can (Kadikoy) Hospital in İstanbul, where he works in the Urology unit. His practice covers general urology and andrology (male reproductive health), with particular attention to the diagnosis and treatment of prostate diseases, urinary incontinence and bladder health, urethral diseases, kidney stones and sexual dysfunction. He has more than 40 years of experience in medicine.

Dr. Özbilek graduated from İstanbul University İstanbul Faculty of Medicine in 1986 and completed his specialty training in urology at Gülhane Military Medical Academy in 1996. He began his career as a physician at Hançalar Health Center (1986–1987) and served as a diving physician with the Naval Forces Command from 1989 to 1992. After his urology training he worked at Çanakkale Deniz Hospital (1996–1998), Gölcük Deniz Hospital (1998–1999) and Kasımpaşa Deniz Hospital (1999–2008). His experience in private hospitals includes Özel Göztepe Hospital (2001–2002), Özel Ferihan Laçin Hospital (2006–2007) and Özel Göztepe Şafak Hospital (2008–2013). He has been with Acıbadem Healthcare Services since 2013. He is a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the EAU and the Turkish Urology Association.

Clinical focus

A large part of Dr. Özbilek’s work concerns the prostate. He evaluates and treats prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia, and sees patients with urinary symptoms that may point to prostate disease. His clinical interests also include kidney stones and conditions of the urethra, for which he offers assessment and treatment within the Urology unit.

Dr. Özbilek also focuses on urinary incontinence and bladder health, and on male reproductive health. Within andrology, he assesses and treats sexual dysfunction. In each of these areas, the choice of investigation and treatment depends on the individual patient’s history, findings and existing results, and is discussed with the patient before any decision is made.

How Dr. Özbilek works with international patients

Dr. Özbilek consults in Turkish and English, and interpreters can be arranged for patients who speak other languages. Before a visit, the Acibadem international patient team coordinates the collection of prior reports and imaging, such as MRI, CT, X-ray or ultrasound reports, laboratory and pathology results, operative notes and discharge summaries, and arranges appointments and the hospital visit. A first consultation typically covers the patient’s history and symptoms, a review of existing imaging and previous treatments, a clinical examination and a discussion of the options.
